In July of 2011, I was interested in writing lyrics to an instrumental song by Pete Huttlinger. I went to his web site to see if I could find out the story behind the title of the song. It was there that I read Pete's blog and discovered the issues with his health. A congenital heart problem from birth has lead to complications.

I wanted to make a donation to Mr. Huttlinger & his family. However, I am the typical starving musician and had no money available to donate. It was then that I seemed to just know what I needed to do. My good friend and world- class guitarist, Iker Cedeno, attended Pete's alma mater, Berklee College of Music in Boston. Iker knows many of Pete's original songs. I approached him to see if he was interested in recording some Pete Huttlinger covers. He already had recorded several PH covers over the years. I wanted to add lyrics to one or two of Pete's instrumentals. We would then place these songs for sale on I-Tunes, Amazon and others. Proceeds would then go to Pete and his family to assist them in this difficult time.

I figured these efforts may not bring in much money to the Huttlinger's, but it was the best that I could do with just Iker and me in the project.

I have made friends with over 1,140 of the best fingerstyle guitar players in the world on Facebook. I started to chat with folks like Don Alder, Michael Chapdelaine, and many others. I started a "secret" group on Facebook, titled "Pete Huttlinger Benefit Recordings". I started adding individuals to the group as they expressed interest in making an album with ALL proceeds going to Pete & his family. This group consists only of world-class players and their agents, as well as, a few select others.

I knew fairly quickly that I was in this project way over my head. I had conversation with several agents, recording moguls, CEO's of large labels and others. I was very lucky to make friends with Betsy Alexander. She brought Muriel Anderson, Phil Keaggy, Keegan McClellan, and Carl Verheyen into the group. She has coached me through this project and been a wonderful help. It was Betsy who put me in touch Mr. Michael Molenda, Editor- In- Chief of Guitar Player Magazine. Michael has pledged to give this project his full attention.

We are proud to release the second compilation in a series of recordings to benefit our friend and brother Mr. Pete Huttlinger.

I want to thank all artists, managers, agents, publishers, photographers and "TrueFire" for their support to make this project such a huge and ongoing success!

We have had so many wonderful songs sent to us by so many fantastic musicians. Almost everyday when I open my email there is another song waiting to be downloaded. It is surreal.

We have songs from the most famous players in the world. We also have songs from super-talented younger artists that will be the "masters" of tomorrow. We have received songs from many different genre's of music. Compilation #1 showed some of the eclectic diversity of songs that we have collected for this on going project.

From day one of this project I have become reliant on the advice from several individuals from the world of fingerstyle guitar. If you have listened to compilation#1, you know that Professor Michael Chapdelaine, arranged and played "Sunshine on My Shoulders" which I performed the vocals on. Michael has become a great friend throughout the process of us recording together on such an important album. We talk on the phone quite a bit, chat, and email each other on a regular basis.

We were talking on the phone about the content of compilation #2. I was prepared to compile an album very similar to compilation #1. Michael suggested that compilation #2 be comprised of some of the most acheived fingerstyle players in the world. This sounded like a grand idea to me. However, I am just a singer/songwriter of a very limited background. So I suggested that Michael come up with a "fantasy list" of accomplished fingerstyle players from all over the world. Needless to say Michael's list was huge! This album is comprised of just 19 of Michael's favorite players. What an incredible group of world class artists....

One person on Michael's list was Pierre Bensusan. I had already received a piece from Pierre that needed to be mastered. At the time, I did not own "Pro Tools" and would not even think about mastering a song from such a genius. I sent the song to Michael. He was able to mix and master the piece as needed. Michael and I then reached out to the rest of the folks on his "fantasy album" list.

We ended up with over 76 minutes of recordings from many of the artists on Michael's list. Compilation #1 was fantastic but was not mastered at all . The volume levels and tonal levels on comp#1 were as varied as the artists themselves. I did not want compilation #2 to have this same issue. I called many mastering houses and major studios but came up empty handed as far as mastering compilation #2. It was then that I humbly asked Michael if he would master compilation #2. He agreed to take on this monumental task! Michael has invested a hundred hours or so in the mastering.

Michael Chapdelaine has earned the credit of "Producer" for the content and mastering of "Pete Huttlinger Benefit - Fingerstyle Fantasy".

I have no doubt that this compilation may be the most important fingerstyle album of all time! The list of players is stellar! Their songs are masterpieces!

Compilation #3 will consist of John Oates, Jennifer Batten, Andy Timmons, Don Alder, Rick Vito, and so many more famous and accomplished musicians. Compilation #3 has many songs that contain vocals and full bands such as, "Leaving On A Jet Plane" by John Oates. This album will also include pieces from some young and upcoming artists from all corners of the Earth. In fact, compilation #3 has limited slots to fill. You know what that means? Compilation #4 is being discussed at this time...
